Ready meals are offered in a variety of packaging formats, including lidding film with tray, flexible thermoforming films (TFFS) for vacuum or MAP, FFS (form fill and seal) as well as ready-made pouches for hot fill and freezing. Different formats require a wide variety of properties which may include antifog properties, excellent gloss and clarity, high puncture and burst strength, thermal resistance for heating in microwave or oven, suitability for various pasteurization/sterilization technologies, resistance to boiling, freezing, and more. Plastopil's film range can provide an answer for every need.
The Plastopil film product range includes Toplex lidding and top web films - designed for sealing to all packaging tray materials used for ready meals, including APET, CPET, PP, PE and uncoated aluminum. Toplex films are available with antifog properties and outstanding heat seal properties, including seals through fats, oils and product residue. Laser technology can add additional functions to the packages. Pressure built inside the pack during heating can be released via predetermined breaking points in the film. These micro-holes act as "valves" to allow the food to heat up evenly during gentle steam cooking in the microwave
and oven.
Plastopil also offers thermoforming films with excellent puncture resistance designed for vacuum packaging of ready meals. The packaging can be deep frozen and heated again by any heating method. These films can also be treated with laser perforation.
A large variety of boilable and hot fillable pouches are available for large portions of ready-to-eat and half-cooked foods.
